‘There is only one thing worse than zombies on the loose…’
The Jurassic Dead – aka – Z/Rex: The Jurassic Dead and Zombiesaurus – is a 2016 science fiction action horror feature film directed by Milko Davis and Thomas Martwick (Tsunambee; Raiders of the Damned) from a screenplay co-written with Michele Pacitto (Monster Force Zero; Mistress of Seduction). The movie stars Andy Haman, Ben Johnson, Adam Singer and Ruselis Aumeen Perry.
Plot:
A hard-boiled hotshot militia unit, led by “Cuchilla” Vasquez (Raquel Pennington), Duque Wayne (Andy Haman) and “Stick” Howard (Ruselis Aumeen Perry) must team up with a group of tech-nerd millennials after the United States is struck by a master-planned EMP asteroid attack.
Stranded in the desert, the two disparate groups end up trapped inside the labyrinth compound of mad jilted scientist and political terrorist Doctor Wojick Borge. They realise this madman is behind it all and more, and they scramble to stop the rest of his nefarious plan to toxify the world.
Meanwhile, the ultimate bio-engineered zombie dinosaur killing machine – the Z/Rex – is hunting them down. The commandos and the millennials ultimately turn on each other, and unearthly pandemonium ensues. The bloodthirsty predator picks them off one by one, shredding and infecting them as they struggle for their very survival against the unimaginable menace…
Reviews [click links to read more]:
” …the film has – more by accident than design, I suspect – found a perfect balance between on the one hand unpretentious, well-made, lightweight sci-fi-horror action and on the other a batshit insane scenario/context […] Somehow, in some way, Zombiesaurus transcends simple dichotomous concepts of good/bad or sense/nonsense. It’s an extraordinary, amazing film.” Cult films and the people who make them
“Initial effects and story whet the appetite, if only it continued. Sadly what happens is reflective of a group of headless chickens, running around the Crystal Maze looking for the next challenge room. The film is saved by a couple of memorable scenes, one Blazing Saddles influenced and the Zombiesaurus mobility either by skateboard or human legs inside the prosthetic beast.” The B Club
“As expected the acting is bad (really bad!), the CGI green screen stuff is absolutely awful and the soundtrack is loud and in your face but I loved it!! […] The human zombies are a little disappointing as there are too few of them and they just seem to have glowy eyes yet can still talk but I have seen worse so I can’t moan too much.” Horrorscreams Videovault
“The CGI is awful, but the T-Rex (it’s more raptor sized actually), is a lot better than the budget deserves. Lacking the serious tone Martwick’s biblically influenced Tsunambee which also made little sense, (and didn’t have a tsunami), The Jurassic Dead should be fun for those who like Syfy Originals and/or are heavily self-medicated. Its total lack of regard for plotting or logic is a wonder to behold.” Voices from the Balcony (and there’s no view)
