‘It’s time you knew about the girl upstairs.’
Insomnium is a 2016 American supernatural horror feature film written and directed by Scott Powers. The movie stars Brad Pennington, Clint Browning, Gena Shaw and Larena Reyna.
Plot:
Long time friends George (Brad Pennington) and Phinneas (Clint Browning) share a duplex apartment in Los Angeles. Their Russian landlord, Mr. Romanovsky (Leon Shparaga) lives in the upstairs unit.
George’s girlfriend Kim (Gena Shaw) and her friend Olivia (Larena Reyna) come over and after some drinking, they bring out a Ouija board. That night, Phinneas begins to exhibit disturbing nocturnal behaviour…
Reviews:
“With a handful of equally creepy music […] Insomnium is a feature film that straddles the line between horror and drama, mystery and thrills. While it delivers on some of these elements, I found that it’s horror level was a little low. Still, it was impeccably produced and stars a cast of true professionals.” Michael Therkelsen, Horror Society
“The use of a possession plot is nothing new, but Insomnium puts a fun new twist on it – besides the use of a strong bro-mance bond at its center, it uses the simple idea of proximity, rather than demonic, Regan-esque possession of the innocent as its central idea.” Michael Klug, Horrorfreak News
